SCVO responds to Preventative Spend Inquiry
The Scottish Parliament's Finance Committee is conducting an inquiry into preventative spending.  This is where funds are invested in projects and approaches that prevent future need from arising, thus saving money on acute costs later.  You can see the SCVO repsonse here.


£2 million boost for student internships in third sector
Up to 300 students are set to benefit from a new £2 million internship scheme announced this week. The Third Sector Internship Programme, run by SCVO, Queen Margaret University and The Open University in Scotland, is part of a Scottish Funding Council initiative to support students to find paid work experience during their studies.  See the press release for more information.

A three month consultation has been launched on plans devised by the Rural Development Council to help economic recovery.  Have your say through the Scottish National Rural Network consultation.


Communities benefit from voluntary sector jobs consortium
Future Jobs: Future communities front cover imageCommunities are benefiting from a pioneering employment initiative delivered by the voluntary sector in Scotland according to new research launched on 30 June 2010 by the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO).

‘Future Jobs: Future Communities’ provides a snap shot of the impact of over 1,300 jobs created by the Third Sector Consortium which helps deliver the Future Jobs Fund in Scotland.
